When optimizing your social media strategy, there are few steps that you can’t miss!
Social media is one of the best ways to market your business, interact with your dream clients, and learn all of their habits and pain points. When optimizing your social strategy, there are few steps that you can’t miss! These steps and tools will not only save you time in the long run, but they will also help you build a framework that allows you to grow your business and start seeing real results!
Here’s my recipe for building the perfect social media marketing strategy…
When getting started with your audit, you’ll need to get into the nitty-gritty of your social media. An audit will give you some insight into how your social media efforts track against your business goals and a clearer understanding of what’s working to grow your account and what is falling flat. This is also a good time to look into your competitors and assess what’s working or not working for them. From here, you can take action and set new goals to optimize your social efforts!
The truth is, you don’t need to be on every platform, because 1) that’s a lot of work, and 2) you need to do what aligns best with your business’s values and goals. I recommend starting on Instagram and then deciding what other platforms will best serve your brand.
If you’re a more creative business, you could show off your product or skills on TikTok, or if your business is very visually aesthetic, you could share your images on Pinterest. If you’re a more professional company, platforms like LinkedIn will probably serve you better than other social channels.
Again, this step depends entirely on what your brand provides and you will be better off creating well-curated content on a few platforms rather than spreading yourself too thin across many.
One of the most important elements of a good social media strategy is understanding your ideal audience, so you need to ask yourself – who is my target demographic? What is their age, occupation, and gender? Where are they located? Having this framework for your audience will be key when it comes to curating content that fits your niche and attracts the right people. Social platforms, like Instagram, have insights available so that you can conduct a deeper analysis on your audience and you can adjust your strategy accordingly.
Have you ever wondered how other brands consistently push out well-made content? They have a social media content calendar, of course! Scheduling content not only saves you time but also helps you curate a well thought out, brand-driven feed across platforms. Of course, there are moments on social when time-sensitive trends will come up and you should absolutely take advantage of them, but for the most part you should be planning and scheduling your content in advance. When you are consistent on social media, you become more familiar with your audience, which builds trust, engagement, and organic reach.
While there is no perfect time to post on social, finding a few of the best times to post can really optimize your engagement! This will depend on when your followers are active and using different social platforms. Not all platforms are the same, and your followers won’t be active at the same times every day. This is where insights from your account will come in handy and you can use this data test and determine your audiences most active times.
This one may be obvious, but it is so important! Engaging content that makes your audience stop scrolling is crucial for increasing your brand’s awareness and will help you express your brand’s messaging, values, and mission. There is a wide variety of content types, like videos, lifestyle posts, and behind-the-scenes, so it’s up to you to test and determine which will work best to engage your audience. You can use tools like Canva to create branded content that catches the attention of your followers!
Engage with your audience
Social media is meant to be social, and people use these networks to connect with people and with brands. Seriously, people LOVE seeing (and sharing) positive interactions between brands and real people. Engaging with your followers will allow you to grow your brand’s social presence and create authentic relationships with your audience. This is where you get to use social media as a tool to really learn from your customers and community about how you can improve their experience with your business.
Utilizing these steps and tools will help you boost your business on social and create that winning social media strategy!
